The Good Life at Netarts

The drive to Netarts Bay Ocean RV Resort from Junction City is along the same road we traveled earlier this year: Route 99W through Corvallis, then Routes 22 and 18 to coastal 101. We continued north on 101 all the way to Tillamook, and then headed west to Netarts for the final few miles.
I remembered the previous pretty drive and it did not disappoint this time either.
The road takes us through a valley sectioned into farms, vineyards, and pastures. Now, with fall approaching, the fields lie fallow and brown. I was fascinated by how flat and evenly they were plowed.

I have also developed a fascination for barns and try capturing them as often as I can. Occasionally I manage a good shot as we whiz on by. Eventually, I will incorporate these images somehow in a quilt or wall hanging. One day.

Heading west, the road crosses the Coast Range and takes you through the Van Duzer Forest.

Aspens...or birch trees... whichever, I like them a lot
As we rounded the corner on the approach to the coast, I was reminded that we are once again in Tsunami territory.

The area is also very lush, situated on the windward side of the Coastal range, and fed by numerous creeks and rivers.

Approaching Tillamook, I was reminded why there is a famous cheese factory here, with happy cows in verdant pastures. From what I remember learning on a previous visit and tour of the cheese factory, this is also one of the wettest places with a whopping 90 inches of annual rainfall (the average US city gets around 37 inches). This weekend, however, is going to by dry and sunny.

We arrived at the RV Park just in time for tea. The RV Resort is interesting, in that it is divided into three sections with spots in every nook and cranny in a very confined space hugging the bay.
Tomorrow we plan to explore the area and see what there is to see.  But for the rest of today, we will set up house for the next few days and organize and enjoy our renovated home on wheels. It will be good to relax and take long walks on the beach after camping out in RV repair lots for the past two weeks.

It's all beginning to feel a lot more like Home Sweet Home!
