2017 Stats

Being married to a financial guy, inevitably at the beginning of each new year there is an accounting of expenses and budgeting for the upcoming 4 quarters that takes place. However, now that we are full-timing, my spreadsheet and chart-loving "bus driver" crunched a different set of numbers for various categories related to our travels. Here is the report:

In 2017
  • Our home on wheels had 63 different “back yards”
  • Alpine drove 11,394 miles, of which 4,748 was since October 20 on the Texas/New Orleans/Natchez Trace trip
  • Consumed 1,259 gallons of diesel at cost of $3,486, average $2.77/gallon
  • Alpine averaged 9.05 MPG
  • Jeep was towed the same 11,394 miles
  • Jeep drove additional 8,043 miles of which 1,212 was on the Thanksgiving round trip Knoxville to Maryland
  • Jeep consumed 444 gallons gasoline at cost of $1,113, average of $2.51/gallon
  • Jeep average 18.1MPG
  • Attended 11 RV rallies: Alpine, FMCA, & Escapees
Personally, the bottom line results simply tell me that we certainly had a marvelous year with terrific adventures. It therefore appears that full-timing suits us and we are enjoying our vagabonding lifestyle. Particularly when I can be in warm weather!
