We're in Indio now, staying at the Elks. Our trip was uneventful and though it's been a while since we were on the road, we remembered the routine.Michael claims that the new shocks make a difference to the ride, and the new bushings seem to have eliminated the clunk we have been hearing. Alpine seems to be driving well.
It was a straight run from Simi Valley along 118 east, then 210, and then route 10 to Indio. Except for one crazy truck driver who couldn't stay in his lane and veered all over the place for a few miles before we were able to pass him, traffic flowed smoothly and was lighter than anticipated.
The Elks Lodge here in Indio is quite large, with 55 spots for RV's. There is 30 amp electric and water.
There are three other Alpines here. Our Washington friends, Janet and Todd Legg are here and it is good to see them and catch up. The Weinheimers are here too. I met Jim briefly and chatted for a while, and learned that they are one of the original early SoCal members when the association first formed. There was another Alpine I spied as we arrived (green with California plates), though it left before either the Leggs or we could meet the owners.
It feels good to be back in the saddle again. Tomorrow we plan to spend the day in Joshua Tree National Park.
