On to Adelanto

Today was travel day again and after a quick stop at Costco and Walmart to re-provision, we were back on the highway, heading east along 215 then 15 and finally north on 395. We will travel this scenic highway for the next several days, as it crosses the Mojave Desert and Owens Valley before hugging the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains further north, exploring areas along the way.  Several spots come highly recommended by our Alpine friends familiar with these parts of California.

We decided not to push too far today - Michael is still recovering but feeling much better. We found an RV Park in Adelanto, more of a Motel 6 stop(truthfully more a Motel 3) along the way.  But the owners are friendly, and we had electricity, water, and wifi coverage.

Here's what we saw on our drive out of the populated LA basin en route to Adelanto today:
leaving the LA basin
heading for the Sierras
climbing to Cajon Pass, elevation 4,190 ft

granite tops appear
a different world on the other side

giant sandpiles scattered around us
interesting rock formations

two trains heading towards each other
Joahsua trees suddenly appear

we are in the desert now
a ribbon of blue in the desert, making life and living here and in LA possible

had a good chuckle about the optimistic view here... it's in the middle of nowhere
